    Water Outlet

ONE OF THE MOST POPLUAR SITES

From Clown fish, schooling Yellow Striped Barracuda, Cuttle fish, Lion fish and many other reef can be spotted almost every dive. Mostly hard coral on the left side and soft corals on the right side of the site. This spot is a great place for Discover Scuba, Open Water check out dives, and fun dives. This spot is one of the most popular spots to dive because it is fairly sheltered. Easy entry most of the time, however there can be a swell at times. Probably one of the best night diving spots also, since it is easy to navigate. Beware of the jet skis. Depth: 9-18 meters. Skill level: Easy

    Flower Garden

    GREAT SPOT TO DIVE

Can you say soft coral everywhere! Great spot to dive. Just about every type of reef fish you can imagine is seen here (local to Taiwan) with the occasional turtle. Look carefully and several species of Nudi Branches can be spotted. Open to South Bay makes this a seasonal spot on the south side of the site. The waves can be choppy and the surge strong at the shallow depths. Entry is across the rocks so be careful. Beware of the jet skis. Depth: 6-18 meters. Skill level: Average. Current: Sometimes long shore currents are present at full moon phase.

    The Pill Box

DEEP WATER AWAITS JUST A 100 METERS OFF SHORE

Deep water awaits just a 100 meters from shore. The site has swim-throughs on the way out to the deeper water. The reef is mostly hard coral with some scattering of soft coral. Several larger fish can be spotted cause of the deeper water. Highlights would be Blue Spotted Rays at 16-30 meters and turtles in the shallower depths close to shore, 6-10 meters. Cuttlefish band together 8-11 meters to lay eggs during the season. Difficult walk to/from the entry/exit point over lava rock. Even small waves can make for a hard exit as the undertow is strong. Long shore currents are present and can be very strong. This is one site that needs to be dove close to or during slack tide. Depth: 6-40 meters. Skill level: Advanced.

    Sand Island

    GREAT PLACE TO START DIVING

This site is one of the most Southern shore dives available. The water has that special blue look to it due to all the sand. Easy site to enter and exit during high tide and when offshore winds are present. Great place to start diving as it has a little bit of everything to see and is very easy to navigate. Beware of the gill nets constantly present near the start of the dive. Even though it is illegal to do so the local residents believe they are above the law. Don’t try to remove the net as the owner watches the divers and you may return from your dive to find flat tires on your truck. Visibility is usually good in the winter months, 10-20 meters. Depth: 5-12 meters. Skill level: Easy.

    Bananna Bay

TURTLES OFTEN SEEN ON THIS EASY DIVE

This site is part of the shallow reef along shore South of Kenting. Almost just like Sand Island except the entrance is a sheltered pool of water with a swim-through under the rocks to enter the reef. Then shallow water diving for about 75 meters until it drops to 90 meters. Turtles are often seen here. May be in competition with snorkel operators that take over the area. I find this site has the coldest water of all the shore dives in Kenting. Divers need to be be properly weighted at the end of the dive to get through the exit swim-through or it will be a rough climb and walk over the rocks. Depth: 4-13 meters. Skill level: Easy

    Sail Rock

    THE PICTURE SAYS IT ALL

The picture says it all, a beautiful site ruined by selfish local fisherman that are too lazy to travel a few kilometers North or South. Depending on the day the area can have 3-6 large fishing nets present. A couple of nice swim through’s near the giant rock. A long walk over the rocks to the entrance point, strong surge current and the fishing nets makes this one of my least visited sites. Depth: 7-12 meters. Skill level: Advanced.

    The Cemetary

    NUDI BRANCHES ARE ABUNDANT HERE

The entrance starts with walking over uneven lava rock for about 30 meters. Then its a giant leap into the gentle swells. The dive starts with a sandy bottom and swimming around several large rocks to get to the deeper water. Gradually the coral drops to 18-22 meters. During the descent keep your eyes peeled for Nudi Branches as they are abundant here. Good site when all the other sites have big swells. Visibility here for my dives has not been more then 10 meters. All dives I have experienced moderate current but not over powering. Maximum depth: 22 meters. Skill level: Advanced
